A writ petition should identify:
- the petitioner;
- respondents;
- relevant facts;
- constitutional or legal right involved;
- challenged decision or omission;
- jurisdiction;
- grounds of illegality;
- alternative remedies and why they are inadequate where relevant;
- relief requested;
- supporting documents.
Public-interest petitions require additional information under the Supreme Court Rules.
