What is a writ of certiorari?

Writ & Administrative Law

Certiorari, or उत्प्रेषण, is used to quash an unlawful decision or order of a public authority, tribunal or body exercising legal power.

It is commonly sought where the decision-maker lacked jurisdiction, violated law, denied procedural fairness, relied on legally irrelevant considerations or otherwise acted unlawfully.
