Can a writ petition be filed to enforce a legal right that is not a fundamental right?

Writ & Administrative Law

Yes, in appropriate circumstances. Articles 133(2) and 144 allow extraordinary relief for enforcement of other legal rights where no other remedy is available or where the available remedy is inadequate or ineffective.

The petitioner must show an enforceable legal right and why ordinary remedies do not provide adequate protection.
