Can jointly owned property be sold without all owners agreeing?

Property & Land Law

One co-owner generally cannot transfer another co-owner's ownership interest without authority. Whether one owner can transfer his or her own share depends on the nature of the co-ownership, partition status, applicable restrictions and the property records.

Important distinction

Selling a legally identified individual share is different from purporting to sell the entire jointly owned property.
