How much notice is required before retrenchment?

Labour & Employment Law

Section 145 requires the employer, generally at least 30 days before the intended retrenchment, to notify the Labour Office and the relevant official/active trade union or labour-relations body, stating the reasons, likely date and expected number of affected workers.

The full statutory consultation process should be followed.
