Can an employer discriminate between employees?

Labour & Employment Law

The Labour Act establishes non-discrimination and equality protections as minimum employment standards. An employer cannot use a contract or internal policy to lawfully remove statutory equality rights.

The Labour Office can issue remedies for discriminatory conduct contrary to the Act, including orders to restore equality and statutory fines in qualifying cases.
