Does an acquittal automatically prove that the complainant filed a false case?

Criminal Law

No. Failure to prove a charge and intentionally making a false accusation are different questions. Section 98 requires the elements of the false-complaint offence, including the relevant intent.

A complainant should not be accused of a crime solely because the prosecution did not result in conviction.
